Thanksgiving Day is a harvest festival celebrated primarily in Canada and the United States. Traditionally, it is a time to give thanks for the harvest and express gratitude in general. While perhaps religious in origin, Thanksgiving is now primarily identified as a secular holiday. [1]
The date and location of the first Thanksgiving celebration is a topic of modest contention. The traditional "first Thanksgiving" is the celebration that occurred at the site of Plymouth Plantation, in 1621. The Plymouth celebration occurred early in the history of what would become one of the original thirteen colonies that became the United States. The celebration became an important part of the American myth by the 1800s.[citation needed] This Thanksgiving, modeled after celebrations that were commonplace in contemporary Europe, is generally regarded as America's first. Elementary school teacher Robyn Gioia has argued that the earliest attested "thanksgiving" celebration in what is now the United States was celebrated by the Spanish on September 8, 1565 in what is now Saint Augustine, Florida.[2][3] Today, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday of October in Canada and on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States. Thanksgiving dinner is held on this day, usually as a gathering of family members and friends .
ANYBODY TO THANKS ?
As you were reading the article above , today is thanksgiving day. We might not celebrate thanksgiving day in this part of the world but we still can do our own little celebration. Regardless of religion or race, we all can celebrate this day. In this modern 20th century , we all are so busy with our lives that sometimes we tend to forget to thanks that special someone or our family member who all this while stand by us no matter good or bad days.
For me once I will like to give my profuse thanks none other than my mum . She stood by me no matter come rainy days or sunny days. She always wanted me to be a good person. I just wanted to tell her do not worry about me although I am not by her side. I might not get to have a decent dinner with her today but from the bottom of my heart I wanna say THANKS to her .. Thanks mum for everything.. Come a day you will be proud of me...
How about you all ?? On this special day itself. who do you wanna thanks most? maybe you can have a quiet dinner with that special someone or just have a dinner with your family ? No matter how busy we might be with our lives , we still need to appreciate the things they did for us...
